MYARTSPACE Art Scholarship
MYARTSPACE, the premier online venue for the contemporary art world is now offering its second annual art scholarship program to the members of members of MYARTSPACE.com and NYAXE.com
MYARTSPACE.com has created a scholarship program for students of artistic merit wishing to continue their education in an approved MFA, BFA or higher level degree program for the arts. The scholarship is intended for students who exhibits exceptional artistic excellence in all mediums of the visual arts including photography and video, both contemporary and traditional in nature.
The scholarship arises from our commitment to the support of the visual arts and its artists. For four years MYARTSPACE has been a key force in availing opportunity in the arts on the web and in global events. We are providing a total of 6 scholarships — 3 scholarship prizes for undergraduate students and separately 3 scholarship prizes for graduate students.
Scholarship Award
The 2009 scholarship amount of $16,000 will be divided equally for an undergraduate and graduate competition as follows:

Deadline for Application
- Final Deadline for submissions is December 16, 2009, 12PM Midnight PST.
- Early registration ends June 15th, 2009. Free 3-month Premium subscription to MYARTSPACE for those applicants that have registered before the Early registration date. This is an optional paid service which is normally $75 per year.
- Scholarship candidates must have registered for the competition AND submitted an online MYARTSPACE gallery to the scholarship competition before the final deadline. The gallery submitted can have up to 20 images (JPEG format, 10mb each in size).
Scholarship Winners Announcement
- Scholarship Winners will be notified by January 15, 2010 and publicly announced on or before January 21st, 2010.
Rules and Regulations
a. Contest entrants must be a member of MYARTSPACE.com or NYAXE.com. Membership is free.
b. Student artists must register for the competition and submit their work to the scholarship competition by December 16, 2009.
c. All students who register before June 15, 2009 will be considered early registrants, and will recieve a 3-month free subscription to premium services for MYARTSPACE.
e. Registered contestants must submit an online MYARTSPACE gallery, containing up to 20 images in it, for review by the jury panel. Accompanying the gallery submission it is advisable to have an Artist Statement as well as CV/Resume which should be constructed in the Artist Profile in MYARTSPACE.
f. We highly recommend that artists submit as high a resolution image as possible for jury purposes. We would recommend JPEG or TIFF images that are at least 2000 pixels in width by 2000 pixels in height at minimum, and could be up to 10mb in size. We create a lower resolution screen image for website viewing. The higher resolution image that was submitted is used for the jury panel.
g. Applicant must be a student currently or pending enrollment in an accredited art school pursuing a BFA or MFA, BS or other approved degree programs.
h. Applicants may enter either the undergraduate or graduate program for competition but not both.
i. Scholarship winners will be mailed a CatMacArt Corporation check denominated in US Dollars, drawn from a US Corporation and a US Bank.
Criteria for judgment
a. The jury panel will consist of the MYARTSPACE internal staff as well as outside consultants.
b. All applicants for an accredited program will be considered, world wide.
c. The prizes will be granted to winners based on artistic merit across all mediums of expression, including video and photography.
d. All genres will be considered including contemporary and traditional imagery.
e. There is no “theme” or restraints on artistic expression for submissions to be considered.
Eligibility
a. All applicants must be currently enrolled or pending enrollment in an accredited art degree program such as BFA, MFA, BA, BS, in the arts.
b. Winners will have to retain proof of their enrollment status for the pending semester the award is intended for or disqualification will incur and prize money will revert to the next runner up.
Other Important information
a. All images and galleries may be revised, even after registration and submission up to the final deadline of the competition.
b. money will be dispensed upon confirmation of continuing or pending enrollment in an accredited art degree program.
c. MYARTSPACE retains the right to discern accredited programs for consideration.
d. Entries can be of any medium, video or photography. JPEG images must be no larger than 10MB each.
e. Artists warrant to MYARTSPACE that they own the work submitted, that the whole copyright is vested in them or, if the copyright belongs to a third party such as an agency/gallery, that the artist has the right to submit the work free of encumbrances or restrictions and that if the work was commissioned for private and domestic purposes, it is submitted with the permission of the person or organisation who commissioned it.
f. Artist warrant to MYARTSPACE that they have obtained the model release forms (where appropriate) from persons featured in their submitted images for all sales, marketing, educational and publicity uses and that no additional releases are required in respect of names, trademarks, designs or works of art depicted in the work.
g. Artists agree that MYARTSPACE may reproduce and/or licence the reproduction of any entries featured in the award exhibition without any payment to the artist, model or third party for any sales, marketing, educational and publicity use on and in all media worldwide including catalogues, posters, postcards and the internet. However such free use shall only be in connection with the competition and exhibition and where practicable the artist and, if appropriate the agency/gallery, will receive a credit for such use.
h. The jury’s decision is final and no discussion or correspondence can be entered into on their decision. They reserve the right to vary the awards or not to make any award.
i. Reasonable efforts will be made to notify all artists as to whether their art work has been short-listed for an award. It is the artists’ responsibility to contact MYARTSPACE if he or she has not received notification by that date.
j. The work submitted for consideration cannot be deleted from the site until 1 year after the announcement of the scholarship winners.
