Internships in the IT Division- Federal Reserve Board
The Division of Information Technology (IT) provides a broad range of automation, telecommunications, and statistical services to the Board. College students who have completed their sophomore, junior, or senior years and who are majoring in computer science, economics, business administration, finance, or a related discipline are encouraged to apply for summer internships. Interns hired for the summer are expected to work from approximately June 1 to September 1.
IT interns perform one or more of the following activities:
- Write and test software for the Board’s mainframe and workstations
- Assist IT staff with installations of hardware and software
- Use various software packages, such as C, C++, and UNIX, and applications, such as SAS, Word, Excel, dBaseIII, and FAME
- Design web pages and Powerpoint presentations and graphics
- Run and review edits of statistical series for clarity and completeness
- Review test results for hardware and software
- Write documentation for applications being developed or modified
- Perform routine office functions
We begin accepting applications in November and start the interview process in mid-December, continuing until all positions are filled. Positions are located in Washington, D.C., and students will be responsible for their own housing arrangements. For consideration, please send your resumé and college transcripts by e-mail to the following address: IT.Interns@frb.gov
Tips for a successful IT intern application:
- Place your major, cumulative GPA, and month available in the subject line of the e-mail. For example, Computer Science / 3.2 / June 2007.
- Include your cumulative GPA on your resumé.
- Indicate your citizenship status in your resumé or cover letter. Please know we can hire only U.S. citizens or permanent residents (green card holders) for IT intern positions.

My bed times have been all over the place for the last year basically. When I was working last summer I had to get up really early (about 4.45am) because my job was an early start so I would go to bed about 9pm, 10pm at the latest. Then when I went to college and moved away from my parents house my bed times went crazy and I was going to bed at like 1am or 3am and now I’m back home for the summer but working a later shift in my job my bed times are pretty late, average about 1am.
What about everyone else?

Some time before, I did need to buy a house for my corporation but I didn’t have enough cash and couldn’t order anything. Thank God my comrade suggested to take the business loans from creditors. Therefore, I did so and used to be satisfied with my financial loan.
