Global Citizen Corps challenge you to turn your understanding of global citizenship into poetry by writing a creative poem that answers the question, “What makes you a global citizen?” Global Citizen Corps is challenging the community to understand what it means to be a global citizen, in terms of both knowledge and action. The best submissions will take into account the following issues:

1. The interconnections between you and other people or areas of the world

2. Your personal convictions about global citizenship

3. Your personal responsibilities as a global citizen and how you can take action.

The top two poems will receive prizes. Eight subsequent poems will receive honorable mention. Check out the documents on the left-hand side of your screen to find out the contest rules and judging criteria. To submit your poem, please join the Poem Contest Group.

We encourage participants to be creative with their submissions. In addition to submitting the text of the poem, perhaps you could add a photo that illustrates the ideas you included in the poem, or maybe you could record yourself on video or audio reading your poem. While these extras will not be factored into the final score for your submission, they are an excellent way to make your submission appealing to readers and viewers. You may submit as many poems as you wish.
