ADCI Scholarship Program
Scope
As a membership funded non-profit organization in sound financial condition, ADCI has elected to return some of its financial resources to our communities in the form of secondary education scholarships.
Accordingly, the Board of Directors of the Association of Diving Contractors International has approved a resolution to implement the following program.
Scholarship Committee
A Scholarship Committee, formed at the direction of the Board of Directors shall consist of one (1) Committee Chairman who is an ADCI member; preferably a director, and three (3) additional committee members. The term of the members shall be for one year.
The Scholarship Committee shall consist of members in good standing of the ADCI, with the exception that if the Scholarship Committee shall deem it to be in the organization’s best interest to include an individual who is not a member of ADCI the committee may request approval of such individual by the Board of Directors. In any case, no more than one individual who is not an active member of the ADC shall be included in the Scholarship Committee.
The duties of the committee chairman shall be to direct all activities of the committee, including but not limited to fund raising, promotion, advertising, public relations and distribution of scholarship funds. In the execution of these duties the ADCI staff shall furnish all necessary assistance and support.
The committee members shall serve to assist the chairman in all of the above activities and to also serve as the selection committee for the awarding of scholarships. The selections made by the scholarship committee must be approved by the board of directors who shall not without reasonable and good cause reject the individual(s) who have been selected. Net Literacy challenges students to create financial literacy videos and games
Net Literacy, a digital literacy nonprofit comprised of local Indiana students, along with State Farm Insurance, announced a national competition allowing students will compete for more than one hundred monetary awards for creating videos and interactive games demonstrating the importance of financial literacy. The two organizations came together after Net Literacy received a digital learning grant of $100,000 from State Farm. Net Literacy plans to align the contest with the Indiana Department of Education’s recently established financial literacy standards, which are taught to all 6th through 12th grade students.
David Johnson, Net Literacy’s Student Chairperson and a sophomore at Northwest High School remarked, “We hope that many schools will use this contest as both a class project and an opportunity to engage students to learn about financial literacy.” Read the rest of this entry »
